Activity - Homemade Father's Day Gift

Best Mom - Gift for Dad

Recommended Age:

2 years and up

Materials Needed:

·         Paint

·         Paintbrushes

·         7 fat popsicle sticks

·         Sharpie

·         Hot glue gun

·         Ribbon or string

·         Newspaper or something your toddler can get paint on

Directions:

Lay out the popsicle sticks on newspaper and have your toddler paint the popsicle sticks however they would like.  You might have to hold the ends of the popsicle sticks as your toddler paints because they do slide around.  Let the popsicle sticks dry.  After they are dry, ask your toddler what order they want to put them in.  They need to be stacked on top of each other, like you are making a piece of paper.  Turn the popsicle sticks over and put a strip of hot glue along both ends of the popsicle sticks—just the adult should do this part.  Then you will want to stick string or ribbon on the hot glue; it should look like a big U.  When the glue dries, flip the popsicle sticks back over and you can write out the five things your toddler likes about daddy.  I had to prompt my toddler with the first idea, but then he listed off the other four things he likes.  I also asked if my son wanted to help write, and he did for a couple of the things.
